New Students
All new students begin with half-hour private
lessons to teach them proper position, balance and control of the horse. When the instructor feels that a rider is ready to
ride independently in a group, the student is placed in an age and skill appropriate class of no more than four riders.
Students with Previous Experience
Riders
coming to us with previous riding experience will take a half-hour private lesson as an assessment and then will be placed
directly into an appropriate group. After a rider is placed in a group lesson, occasional private lessons will still be offered
to refine riding skills or prepare for an upcoming horse show.
In-House Shows
Foxberry
Riding Academy offers in-house barn shows several times a year. These shows allow each and every one of our students to enjoy
the experience and competition of showing. Riders' points accumulate throughout the show season towards end-of-the-year
championship prizes.
Outside Shows
Aside from our in-house show program, we take
students who are ready and willing to competitions outside of our facility at various farms and competition sites. When our
students are ready, we also encourage them to ride in clinics with outside instructors. This helps them to grow and become
more independent and accomplished riders.
Additional Riding Opportunities
We
also offer an assortment of our school horses for lease to our students allowing them time to practice their riding skills
and leisure time with the horse of their choice. To further advance our students' riding and horse management skills,
we hold a series of summer camp sessions which are open to both our students and riders from other facilities.
Each student takes either weekly or twice weekly
lessons consisting of 30 minutes to one hour of riding time or horse management lessons during inclement weather. Our students
learn to catch, groom, tack and care for the horses as well as develop their riding skills.
